MASTERCLASS & WORKSHOP: YOGA & THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Whether it's a busy job, an intense family life or challenging life experiences: we all experience tension and stress in our lives. We have a body and nervous system that in general can handle this very well. But when stress or tension is prolonged, or an experience is so intense that it is traumatizing, it can be more difficult to relax completely and find a sense of balance again.
This can result in symptoms such as fatigue, a continuous feeling of tension, anxiety or stress, insomnia, or feeling 'stuck'. Stress can, depending on the person, express itself in many different ways. But physically, the same happens to everyone. This means that by working through the body, many different stress symptoms can be relieved.
The practice of yoga is one of those techniques that can be highly therapeutic. It offers great tools for deep relaxation and release of stress from the body. This is one of the reasons yoga and meditation appeals to so many people. This does not mean that yoga is by definition therapeutic. Just like any other practice, a deeper understanding of its effects is important.
MASTERCLASS: EMBODIMENT & TENSION RELEASE THROUGH YOUR ASANA PRACTICE - FRIDAY 10 JULY | 18:00 - 20:30 hrs
Even though our mind makes sense of our experiences and we tend to spend a lot of time in our head, we experience life through our body. The residue of our emotions settles and shows up through how present and free, or disconnected and contracted, we feel in our body.
